It's quite easy really. I use Photoshop, the steps involved may be different with other programs. First I edit my photo completely, next select the text tool from the tool palette. Left click the tool somewhere on the image. You will see a blinking curser, simply type what you want on to the image. When your done typing click the check at the top of the screen. If the size of the text is not to your liking, go to edit/transform/scale. You now reposition, enlarge, or shrink the text. The next step involves the layers palette. Lower the opacity of the text layer to a level you like. The final step is to flatten the image and save.
